Snowpaw crunched her paws in the hard snow of leaf-bare. She sighed. "There's just nothing to do in leaf-bare!" she yowled. Angrily, she leaped onto a tree, and started to scratch it. Snowpaw unhitched herself and shook herself. Get a grip, Snowpaw!she murmered to herself. As she bounced back to camp, she felt a harsh breeze, which toppled her over. Getting back up again, she tried to run to the safety of her den, but the wind kept her back. Why do we have to have a camp on a hill? I'm freezing! Snowpaw thought. She pushed herself up and barged against the wind to her den. Not only did she cuddle up in a corner, but she saw a lot of other apprentices. "What's with this wind? It knocked me over!" she yelped. Snowpaw wrapped her tail over her nose and eyes, trying to stay warm, but the den just kept getting colder. Her eyes drooped, and all of a sudden she felt like taking a nap. "Don't sleep! You could d-" but before Snowpaw's denmate could finish, her surroundings became dark and black, and Snowpaw fell asleep.
Coldness surged throughout Snowpaw's body, and her surroundings were strange-she was in a forest with deep snow piled all around her going up to her nose. Then she heard yelping from behind her. When she turned around, she saw two little kits yelping pitifully. WindClan cats!, she thought. Snowpaw pulled herself up, but she just sank in the snow again.
"Snowpaw!!!!" a voice came. She opened her eyes slowly, as her den and denmates came to view. "You should've let me finish before you snoozed. You know, like that you could drop dead!"her denmate sighed. "All that matters is that you are breathing right now."
"There are kits out there! We need to help them!" Snowpaw recalled her dream, telling them everything she saw. "You know, it's just a-"
"A dream? I know! But something tells me I have to go get those kits!" Snowpaw retorted. Without stopping to look back, Snowpaw ran to where her heart had told her to go.
Snowpaw sniffed the air. this way, she confirmed. On the way, the snow seemed to have gotten deeper and deeper. just a little more...! Then, she heard it. She saw the two kits in her dream! Fortunatly, the snow wasn't as deep as in her dream, so she managed to get across. The kits were helplessly squealing and squirming around. Snowpaw licked them a few times, and carried them by the scruff.
When she got back to camp, she heard a whimpering from the nursery. "My kits! My kits! They're gone!!!". Looking down at the kits in her mouth, she ran to the nursery. "Are these your kits?" she asked. The queen turned around with a hopeful look on her face, but it soon faded. "Those aren't my kits! They're not even from our clan!" she snarled, and then continued to yelp for her kits as other queens tried to comfort her. Have I been wrong? Then who are these kits?". Questions swirled around head as she left the kits to a queen and padded outside. Once again, Snowpaw heard yelping, but this time it wasn't from the queen. As she froze terrified, she heard it again. "Foxes!"
